I’ve always wanted to visit the beautiful beaches of Rio De Janeiro, witness the marvelousness of Christ the Redeemer, and experience the culture of the 2nd largest black population in the world next to Nigeria, but was deterred by the high cost and strict Visa requirements for US citizens.

Well, the day may soon come where it’s much easier to visit Brazil!

In the past, The Workers Party administration forced Americans that travel to undergo strict visa requirements to enter Brazil, similar to what Brazilian residents have to go through to enter the United States.

According to Reuters, Brazil plans to eliminate visitor visas for Americans, the country’s tourism minister said on Wednesday, as President Jair Bolsonaro seeks to turn around the lagging tourism sector and engineer cozier relations with the United States.

Last year traveling to Brazil did get simpler and cheaper with the new E-Visa

that can be purchased online for $44 for two years or $160 for 10 years.

Elected Jan. 1st, Brazil’s New President,  plans to improve Brazil’s tourism industry and relationship with the US during his first 100 days in office by removing visa requirements for all U.S. Citizens.

According to Tourism Minister Marcelo Alvaro Antonio, 

“Our intention is really to eliminate visa applications for Americans”

Though an exact timeline has not been announced, Brazil does plan to drop Visa Requirements this year.

Eventually, Brazil will also eliminate visas for Canadians, Japanese, and Australians.

Keep in mind, A US Passport is still required to visit Brazil for US citizens.
